Post Valentine’s day at Karamel?

As we at Karamel take a break from our weekly extra curricular activities for the first time this year we thought it would be an opportune moment to update you, our marvellous fans as to what we have coming up on the near horizon.

Wednesday the 15th of February. Ah, possibly the most unromantic day of the year, after all the efforts of the previous night we know the last thing you want to do is have to go through all that effort again, well at least not until your anniversary/partner’s birthday (which ever comes first).

But you can’t miss out on this KMC as we’ve got …

Mark Nevin

Tarrah Reynolds & Norman Vladimir

and…

Julia Spada

So why not make going to the KMC part of your valentine’s gift? Three amazing live acts for free. Something which you don’t have to tell your partner but at the same time may also impress them in these times of austerity. It’s up to you.

Or…

We of course know how cool people who come to Karamel are, and we won’t forget you when we’re huge don’t worry. So why not show us your coolness, that edgy, subversive streak that lurks within, by saying no to greeting card companies and soppy gift manufacturers and make February 15th Valentines Day instead. It will be like your own private valentine’s day, a special day for you and your loved one, one that proves you’re not like the rest of them, and have no time for regular calendars. You make the rules. Of course just forget that you are instead changing a traditional day of celebration due to the whims of a guy writing a blog for an admittedly brilliant live music/comedy/performance venue and restaurant in Wood Green.

See you there.

2012 is shaping up to be a great year at Karamel

Happy New Year everybody! 2012 is already shaping up to be a great year at Karamel, full of the wonderful evenings we’ve come to know and love.

Firstly, Booster Cushion Theatre will be bringing us their trademark chaotic children’s entertainment with a slightly belated Christmas Carol on Saturday 21st January.  Expect audience participation galore and all sorts of other madcap fun from this re-invigorated seasonal classic.  Keep checking the Karamel website for our monthly childrens theatre shows.

We’re also delighted to announce that the Karamel Music Club will be beginning its second triumphant year on Wednesday 18th January, with a typically fantastic line-up featuring Arcelia and, all the way from Australia, Joel Sarakula. But that’s by no means all, and there’s a magnificent roster listed below, bursting with singer-song writing talent.

Sides will be splitting, too, courtesy of the hotly-tipped up-and-comers of the Karamel Comedy Club, which promises to deliver a monthly dose of hilarity, starting next Wednesday with headliner Tim Clare, Lou Sanders, Laurence Tuck, Darren Maskell and MC, Patrick Lappin.

There’s still more excitement to come that we haven’t even announced yet, including some more tastes of Brazil, so be sure to check the Karamel Club website regularly for any new listings.  Enjoy!

A popular lunch spot by day, Karamel moonlights as a bar, exhibition space and live music venue

Article by Jenisa Thumbadoo – Hornsey, Crouch End and Muswell Hill Journal, Thursday 28th July 2011

A popular lunch spot for the local office workers by day, Karamel moonlights as a bar, art exhibition space and host to a variety of live music events.

Situated in the self-styled cultural quarter of the up-and-coming Chocolate Factory area of Wood Green, this multi-tasking eatery is the type of venue that has been missing from the rapid gentrification of this North London suburb.

With its eclectic collection of shabby chic furnishings, whitewashed brick walls, open kitchen and a fantastic selection of artwork on the walls, Karamel evokes a relaxed, bohemian feel that would not be out of place in Camden or Islington.
